The City of North Las Vegas is located at the northern-most point of the Las Vegas Valley. A number of newer master-planned communities are calling North Las Vegas home and 180,000 people now reside in the area. New retail and commercial amenities are quickly coming on line to keep pace with population growth and to help maintain and promote the city's burgeoning reputation as a family-friendly environment.
Incorporated in 1946, the 78-square mile city is Nevada's fourth largest city. The master-planned community of Aliente, a development of America Nevada Corp. and Del Webb, was launched in late 2002. Aliente covers more than 1,900 acres, and at build-out, will have an anticipated 7,500 properties housing an estimated 20,000 residents. Another popular master plan, Eldorado, encompasses 1,000 acres, contains 5,500 housing units and is home to an estimated 18,000 residents.
North Las Vegas officials anticipate a population growth of 1,000 new residents every month. The city's efforts to revitalize its business base and attract high-tech companies is creating a significant business hub. The city's economic diversification efforts earned it the International Economic Development Council's top award for development of its innovative public/private partnership in creation of the Cheyenne Technology Corridor. This partnership between the city and five large parcel commercial developers provides the most comprehensive fiber-optic conduit network in the area.
North Las Vegas is located15 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, 25 minutes from McCarran International Airport and is home to its own small facility, the North Las Vegas Airport. The city is also home to numerous community parks and is within close proximity to local natural attractions, including Red Rock Canyon and Mt. Charleston.
