Henderson has been touted as one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation for several years. Home appreciation in this area of the valley experienced significant gains in 2004 and 2005. The real estate market continues to boom, with the sale of numerous resale homes and the development of new neighborhoods.
Henderson is typically discussed in terms of various notable communities: Green Valley and Henderson proper, the more mature, established area of the city.
Green Valley Ranch was one of Southern Nevada's first master-planned communities, setting the tone for master plan development in terms of providing a wide variety of housing options, neighborhood parks and a host of community amenities. Green Valley is home to the Grand Legacy Golf Course, The District at Green Valley Ranch and the Henderson Multigenerational Center.
Anthem and Seven Hills are two master-planned communities carved out of the hills of the McCullough Mountains. These two communities offer a variety of upscale living options and are seen as an elite enclave in the Henderson community. These two communities are home to The Revere at Anthem Golf Course, the Rio Secco Golf Course and Anthem Center recreational/community center.
The Downtown area of Henderson houses city municipalities, public libraries and a St. Rose Dominican medical facility. This section of Henderson is home to the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, as well as the custom home community Calico Ridge and the elite Lake Las Vegas. Lake Las Vegas is a Mediterranean-themed resort community that boasts two championship golf courses, a yacht and fitness club, two premier hotel/casinos (The Ritz-Carlton and The Hyatt Regency) and a beautifully designed outdoor shopping district.
Henderson has more than 40 parks and provides more recreational facilities per capita than any other community in Southern Nevada. With its proximity to Lake Mead, residents can enjoy water skiing, fishing, camping, jet-skiing and boating. Arts and cultural events held annually include the Renaissance Festival, Shakespeare in the Park and numerous craft fairs and community festivals.
